WPSA Training on Managing Food Safety and Quality in Poultry Processing (22 August – 23August 2016)

wpsa newsWPSA training on Managing Food Safety and Quality in the Poultry Processing plant were successfully organised with the support from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Services, Malaysia, CENTRAS, UPM and Charoen-Pokpand (CP) Poultry Processing plant.

The training comprises the various food safety, inspection and certification scopes at the poultry farm and poultry based food in the processing plant with the objective to share experience as well as transfer knowledge and skill on biosecurity and SPS, implementation of HACCP in abattoir, awareness on poultry welfare issues and to enhance the importance of halal concept in poultry processing plant. The training include Field Visit to CP Poultry Processing Plant, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

WPSA Scientific Poultry Seminar (16 February 2016)

wpsa newsThe committee members of WPSA (Malaysia Branch) organized the Poultry Seminar on 16 February 2016. This seminar was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia with the theme of “Poultry Production and Health”. This seminar was organized with the cooperation of World Poultry Science Association (Malaysia Branch), World Veterinary Poultry Association (Malaysia Branch), UPM, DVS, and Malaysia Flour Mill Berhad. The seminar provided a platform for scientist, academicians, livestock producers, veterinarian, policy makers and livestock extension officers to discuss matters relevant to the industry, as well as enhance networking within the industry. The seminar was officiated by Datin Paduka Prof. Dr Aini Ideris and closed by Prof. Dr Zulkifli Idrus. We had 4 speakers from University of Arkansas and UPM covering the topics of production, nutrition and health of poultry. These speakers were Prof. Dr Anthony N.B., Prof. Dr Mohd Hair Bejo, Prof. Dr. Kidd M.T. and Dr Thomas E. Bowen. There were 189 participants from WPSA and WVPA registered for the seminar and the meal were sponsored by Malayan Flour Mill Berhad.

WVPA/WPSA Scientific Conference 2015 (21 to 23 September 2015- KLCC)

wpsa newsWorld Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) - World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) (Malaysia Branch) Scientific Conference 2015 was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, in conjunction with Livestock Asia and Asia MEATEC Expo and  Forum from 21 to 23 September 2015. The theme “Enhancing Innovation in Poultry Health and Production” were successfully organised with 215 participant registered for 3 days conference and forum. The conference is jointly organized by WVPA, WPSA, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Department of Veterinary Services with the support from UBM and various industry partners.

The objective is to share information on diseases and conditions relating to the avian species, to encourage research in this field, to promote the exchange of information and material for study between individuals and organisations who are interested in the poultry species, and to establish and maintain liaison with other bodies with related interests.

WPSA and Department of Veterinary Services of Terengganu Joint Seminar (18 Mei 2015)

wpsa newsThe World Poultry Science Association (Malaysia Branch) and Department of Veterinary Services of Terengganu (DVS) had successfully organised a poultry seminar involving the DVS staff and poultry farmers in Terengganu. The venue was held at Veterinary Extension Academy in Marang, Terengganu.

WPSA AGM 2013 and Scientific Poultry Seminar (26 June 2014)

wpsa newsThe Scientific Poultry Seminar were held together with 2013 Annual General Meeting on 26 June 2014 at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. 40 participant registered including members from various sectors in poultry industry and post graduate student from faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Agriculture. The important topic were presented and discuss such as Poultry production, Emerging and re-emerging disease and animal welfare were very meaningful to the participant.
